Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner- Part Time- Glasgow

The role
As an experienced Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner, based at either our Glasgoe Clinic.To work as an autonomous Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP), delivering a comprehensive musculoskeletal clinical assessment and treatment service within Bupa Health Clinics, as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

•To perform to a highly specialised level, the assessment, diagnosis and management of MSK conditions, using advanced clinical reasoning and decision making abilities and skills beyond the scope of physiotherapy practice, and utilising evidence based principles and current best practice to plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
•To provide independently, highly specialised assessment, diagnosis and management by undertaking the medical practice tasks of requesting and interpreting the outcomes of medical investigations such as radiology and pathology investigations, to a caseload of orthopaedic and musculoskeletal patients.
•To independently determine the clinical diagnosis and future clinical management of presenting patients through the assimilation of clinical assessment and the requesting and interpretation of the results of specialist clinical investigations such as X-Rays, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound Scans, Bone Scans, Haematology and Clinical biochemistry tests, immunology, microbiology and histology.
•To be professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of your work including the management of patients in your care. To work within BHC clinical protocols, procedures and guidelines and professional standards set by the HPC and CSP. To have good working knowledge of national and local standards and monitor own and others quality of practice as appropriate.
•To undertake a highly specialised assessment of complex and highly complex patients presenting with orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions using advanced decision-making and clinical reasoning skills.
•To formulate and implement individualised management and treatment plans, utilising a wide range of highly skilled specialist treatments to formulate specialised programmes of care, setting agreed realistic goals/actions/outcomes with patients to achieve an anticipated outcome of treatment.
•To determine clinical indication and independently request following local and national and professional protocols and standards, specific invasive clinical procedures that are outside the scope of recognised physiotherapy practice, such as routine and specialist X-rays, MRI imaging and blood pathology tests.
•To provide spontaneous and planned, advice, teaching and instruction to relatives, carers and other professionals using advanced clinical reasoning and decision-making skills. To promote understanding of the aims of intervention -such as physiotherapy, podiatry, diagnostic interventions (X-Rays, MRI scanning, invasive pathology tests) and routine and complex orthopaedic surgery, and to ensure a consistent approach to patient care.
•To evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment if required, monitoring treatment outcomes using accepted measures. To assess, interpret information and identify complex and highly complex problems.

Specific Qualifications & Skills
•MSc/PG Dip from CSP endorsed Advanced Physiotherapy post graduate course
•Post graduate qualifications in a relevant subject area essential.
•Evidence of completing a CSP accredited Injection therapy course
•IR(ME)R training
•Chartered Physiotherapist and practising member of the CSP and HCPC
•Post graduate experience (> 5 years) in musculoskeletal medicine and private practice.
•1 year post injection therapy qualification experience
•Evidence of 1 year of APP experience
•Meets local polices on additional APP skills e.g. diagnostic ultrasound, independent prescribing.
•Experience treating private patients
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•Excellent organisation and time management skills
•Demonstration of continuing professional development pathway and portfolio
•Excellent clinical reasoning skills
•IT skills including proficient on Microsoft Office systems.
•Excellent customer service skills and an understanding of the drivers of service excellence
